Yeah. Sunday, I'm gonna do a shoot all by myself. My colleagues warned me it's gonna be tough coz it's a walking trail. I'm quite nervous eh actually. No, very nervous hahaha.

It's a Sembawang walking trail. And I feel like... I haven't really done my homework. Am gonna meet the interviewee tomorrow to learn more about him and the trail BUT I FEEL SO LAZY TO READ UPPPP. No professionalism.

Sembawang is a complete blur to me. I dunno what's interesting about it. I've read about stuff about it, but... they've all been over done? Like Singapore's ONLY hot spring is there. The Beaulieu House, this old mosque... All been featured on TV before. Don't really know much or anything else about Sembawang.

Realise there's still so much things about Singapore I don't know. I live in the east, but places up in the north are a total blur.

OKOK, I suddenly know what I can ask the interviewee tomorrow. And it makes me sound like I did a lot of research. Well I did read up stuff but that's about it. I shall ask him, "I've heard about the Beaulieu House, the old Mosque, Sembawang Park and the hot spring... but they've all been done to death, so what else is there for me to know?" Yeahhh. Or at least, is there anything in these places that haven't been uncovered?

Argh. Sometimes I think doing all this research can sometimes obscure my line of thought. But I must admit I do need a train of thought at least. I need to make up a proper list of questions. Butttt I'm so tired nowwww.

Alright I'll wake up early tomorrow to think before meeting him in person.

All my thoughts penned down. Useful.

Hi all,
Here's my ID. And here's a wall that's always behind me.
Just an update coz I feel like I haven't been updating this hub of mine.

Do see my Instagram pictures lah, if yall wanna keep up with this life of mine. It's easier to upload pics there on-the-go. Blogs are meant for long and deep entries haha

I've been a little scheming lying bitch coz in my last post I lamented about how running and jogging kills my pathetic heart. And how...

I've been a little scheming lying bitch coz in my last post I lamented about how running and jogging kills my pathetic heart. And how I would die if I ran.

But uh, as you can tell from this picture, I participated in a race. And it was my first ever race.

It was the Hong Bao Run organised by Mediacorp on Sunday... and guess how long the distance was?

FREAKIN 8 KILOMETRES. EIGHT. Eight. Whop my freakin ass EIGHT. The longest distance I ever ran was hello? 2.4km muthabuggaz! Called Napha test. And 2.4 was my dreaded enemy during Napha so here I am... signing up for this thing called Hong Bao Run, which was so widely advertised on TV for people to sign up. Huat my ass hell yeah!

SO WHY DID I SIGN UP when I knew it'd kill me.

Well, first thing's first, you'd know that I wouldn't pay for something that would cost me when all I could do was run during my OT OT. So, if you guessed it, yeah, it was free for staff members. TEEHEE. Original px: $68 WOOOOHOO!!!! I got it fo free. :') I ain't no payin for nothin when I can go runnin in a place called the park or just outside my L-O-N-G KAO. That one is everybody's grandfather's road man.

Another reason that made me sign up was how my colleague said she would walk the entire distance and only run the last 500 metres hahahahaha. She said must look good for the cameras for last part. So I was like HELL YEAH IM GONNA WALK WITH YOU. I can't run for shit.

And the last reason was, yeah, I do need some exercise. Anyway, if I need to stop, JUST WALK LAH. Confirm will walk. I already want to die when I run 2.4km. Run 8km simi sai, in your dreams.

But...
Guess freakin what ass holes.

I JOGGED THE ENTIRE 8KM AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.

I still can't believe it actually.

While I was jogging, I was thinking, omg, what's happening to me. Why am I not panting like a sick old lady? Why? WHY???!?!?!!?!?!

Even Felicia Chin was walking like she couldn't care. (I secretly think all these Mediacorp celebs were forced to come down so they couldn't even be bothered to try... sigh.)

Ah, but I must say tho Kym Ng is a runner. That woman with the pink hair could fly man.

Anyway, back to my tear-jerk worthy moment of my life.

I was running and I was thinking and thinking. It truly was the best run I had ever done.

And I took only 1 hour 6 minutes to complete the race. Only? YES ONLY COZ I THOUGHT I'D TAKE 3 HOURS AT LEAST. And I was thinking the entire event would prolly wait for me as the last person to finish the race. Good Lord. So that timing was an achievement by a milestone in my pathetic Book of Records for running.

What made the run more enjoyable was that I had my colleague as my running buddy for the ENTIRE 1 hour :'D She and I kept with each other's pace and never left the other. I never thought running could be this way... I always thought running was a solo thing coz I always believed that someone would always run faster than you or you'd find someone (like me) a burden to run with and run milessss ahead. So I always thought running can never be a pair or team thing.

But guess what, another reason why I really enjoyed this race was because SO MANY PEOPLE would be running alongside you! You're running on the ROAD. They cordoned off the entire Nicoll Highway for us! I felt like a human vehicle. Ok not really but the feeling is pretty awesome when you run in a crowd. Though it was really quite smelly after like 1 or 2 km. You could smell all the bodily fluids oh sick. Mine's probably part of the concoction nyahahha.

Anyway, you must be thinking...

SO WHAT THE HELL SI HUI? What the hell happened to you?

I must admit, I never practised for this race. Not at all. Because I was told I had to run at least 60% of the distance to make it. 60% of 8km would be 4.8km. But I never did.

WHAT I DID DO WAS, run 2.4km outside my house the week before. But even so, I was panting like a mother*. Really. I was like, goodness, why do people enjoy torturing themselves like that what the hell. I'm never gonna make it.

Then I realised what it was... The race that I ran for. The Hong Bao Run. What was different about all the other stuff that I had ever run for, ah which is actually only Napha, was that I started real slow. I jogged. And I jogged for the entire distance. I never once sped up. Only the last 100m when I knew I was gonna finish the race. I sprinted to the finish line. But from start till end, I slow jogged like a grandma, but slow enough to overtake some lah not so jialat. Power Grandma. And also, I maintained a constant pace.

I'VE FOUND THE SECRET TO LONG DISTANCE JOGGING!!!!!! I HAVE I HAVE.

It applies to me lah. I dunno about you. If I trained longer, I'd prolly get better. But I don't really want to, coz I don't wanna hurt my knees. Seriously. It's bad for the knees. Don't wanna be on a wheelchair when I'm only 23 or something hahaha. But of coz, it's a good work out.

Ah.. I think.. I'm just lucky to have small boobs also. Coz when you run, man, those coconuts if you do have them big ones, well, they're gonna be HE-AVY. No sports bra will ever do hahahah.

After the race, on Monday, my legs were pretty sore. A good sore. Coz ya know your body is really stretcheddddd.

And best of all, when you finish a race, you just feel damn bloody good about yourself lah. That's just what everyone wants by the end of it HAHAHA. secretly.

For me, I remember telling myself the night before, "wahlau, if you manage to finish the race, DUDE, you can accomplish ANYTHING. I tell ya ANYTHING".

Indeed, I feel like I can achieve anything. Majulah Singapura bro.

It was something I never thought I'd ever be able to do, really. ALL my friends have done a race before. 10km at least (all those nabeh srjc people hahahaha). And me? nevah! Just thinking about how I signed up without thinking was really quite a feat for me already. Signed up after the deadline somemore hahaha and the friend who asked me to join didn't go for the event in the end -.-

I used to be sad thinking I'll never be able to run a race coz uh, I really hate running man. And I like to try everything before I die. So hell yeahhh

I hope this secret to long distance running lasts forever man. Not just one morning of running. Also, I was wondering if it's coz it was a race super early in the morning? Like 7am? The weather was cool and all? I dunno. We'll see.

And GUESS WHAT, ok I just saw this promo thing about "Singapore City Race", 23rd March.
5km and 15km. 15km is quite daunting. No actually very daunting... but I want to challenge myself eh. If I do 5km, I'm not really challenging myself. I'll see who wants to sign up as a team. If no one, then fate tells me running is outta my league so I can just stfu and go to sleep.

Or coz $48 is just too damn lame and expensive. Paying to exercise wow whee.

Anyway, I went for filming on Monday at Joo Chiat and I went to this SPECTACULAR Peranakan House. It's not just a House, it's actually a HOUSE. I don't make much sense do I? The fact that someone LIVES in there is amazing. Coz it literally looked like a museum/shophouse and it was just amazing. And too beautiful.

Just look at the first level, it's freakin gorgeous lah?

Wanna see how the second level looks? THEN YOU GOTTA WATCH ON THE RED DOT at 9pm on Channel 5 man. You got to. This episode airs on 5th March though so yeah.

But here are some more pictures,

Interview

One of my favourite parts of the house

Ah, this photo doesn't look as flattering as the real thing. I mean no toilets ever look flattering.
But as you can see.. THE TILESS!!! So pretty. So Peranakanly Pretty.

So many authentic and nice looking Tingkats hanging overhead in his kitchen.
Peranakan and true to, not the bone, but the KITCHEN.
The Kitchen, the mark of a real man. Not the Office haha.

Also, I got to visit a pre-war house. And it's just amazing that such houses even still exist. I freakin swear, it's cool. It's like one of those shophouses you can only find in Melacca in Malaysia. But this.... people actually LIVE in them.

Things I don't know about my country.

Check out the spiral staircase.
Not outside the house but INSIDE the house.
Awesome.

The Backyard.

It's not even his house but he was such a good profile and was willing to go to his neighbour's house to present for us. A walking tour.

Here's his other neighbour featured doing some old rickshaw thing I'm not sure what it's called. It carries "zha huo". In Chinese, it's goods coz this guy owns, if I'm not wrong, or partly owns the provision shop across the street.

Pretty amazing, all these things in Joo Chiat. It's a feature on Joo Chiat on the show On the Red Dot on Channel 5 and Channel NewsAsia.

Glad to be a part of production. It's extremely eye opening and I really salute the producers. Not an easy job. Also, the camera man and soundman!!! Equipment is damn heavy man. But dedication, all there.

All these shows, 30 mins, not easy really. You watch in the comfort of your homes on the sofa, not realising all the effort put in for a show..... Ah. Newfound admiration for these people.

Alright, I'm heading off to bed now. Last night was the most tiring day of the week for me but I felt like blogging and blog I have. ("Last night" coz it's past midnight already)

We edited the episode on Tiong Bahru just now, which will telecast tonight at 9pm. It's a new look and series for On the Red Dot. And after 1 month into the job, I really think this episode is one of the best ones so I urge for all of you to watch it. Not coz I'm promoting it or whatev, but I personally love love this episode. Especially since it's TIONG BAHRU. How can you not love the estate?

The people featured on the show... hard not to love. How much love words have I already used?

The entire mini-series is called "That's My Backyard" featuring neighbourhoods of Singapore. I'm excited to see upcoming productions and episodes especially since the first one is very promising and I've been on a number of shoots already. All very fascinating. So yes, do watch it. I know the producer for the Tiong Bahru episode and she's one of the best on our team so it's an episode you cannot miss! She's awesome and very nice.

She also happened to be my running buddy for Hong Bao Run. Yes, she was that colleague. :  )

Sorry for the lack of updates!!!!

I thought working would give me more time for updates. Guess not. But I'll see you guys soon. I enjoyed CNY so much. I kinda, nah actually, I REALLY love CNY. Always great time for gatherings and festive cheer. Makes life so fun and happy coz we get to see everyone again. I wish people didn't have to have a reason to meet up. Like.. I wish CNY would happen all the time. Then there will always be something to look forward to~ : )

Cheers everyone. Happy New Year suckassss. Wished so many people so many times and I always feel so happy whenever I say it!

Ok, since I'm already blogging, might as well blog hahaha. Have to wake up at 6 and it's already close to 2am. But I'll make it quick!!

Here's me annoying my cousin with my face that I put up on his timeline. Great for you too.

My most adorable I dunno what to call her, niece? Though she's quite a distant niece. Isn't she just the cutest thing? She's actually real grouchy all the time so that smile is to be priceless. She was looking at herself that's why. Vainpot siol. Hahaha the cutest tho.

And that lady there is my grandma. Kidding. She's my grandma's daughter lol. But everyone's telling me she looks exactly like my grandma. So there she is. Back to haunt me. Kidding, this kinda things cannot joke siahz.

One more thing I love about CNY is the new clothes. You have a reason to shop and buy new clothes :'D Nah I wasn't like that last time. I rmb I couldn't be bothered to get new clothes last year. Eh actually even this year, but I just happened to see stuff that I liked and friends gave me new clothes for my birthday. Sooo, why not wear eh.

I bought this love bonito piece online. My second online buy EVERRR and I'm glad I bought it lah, I like it a lot. Was worrying about the size and all, I mean it's online shopping, you can't try anything. But my friend recommended it to me and I was just lookin and then I saw this, and of coz, I couldn't take my eyes off it. Didn't think about it after a while coz I was thinking it's ONLINE shopping, it prolly won't look the same on me, until I thought, hey cny is coming I don't have new clothes to last the entire house visiting period. So. I bought it after much consideration. I love to think long and hard about my buys. Makes it all the more worth it ya know.

And yes, every house that I went visiting on that day talked about the outfit coz it had THIS,

Big hole.
I thought it was fine, but everyone thought I was incredibly sexy.
I mean.. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. No doubt about that at all ;D Hahaha, but really, I love these back things. Of course, in tasteful fashion. I absolutely dislike holes at the back that unveil bra straps that kind aiyo really ah. And, low cuts, just aren't my thing. I think they make your boobies just look vulgar man. Or maybe it's just coz mine's a washboard so nothing to even spill lah.

Speaking of BRA straps, yes, I went a day without a bra. Just nipple tapes if you're wondering.
Ya know, it was quite hard just going around white sands' shops asking for nipple tapes. It was like, oh god, do I have to say that word out loud to the salesgirl. I think the whole of 2013 I only mentioned it like twice or something hahahah. Good Lord. Nipple. Ugh. Even cows have a special word for theirs- Udders.

But yes, before I get embarrassed and I save you the trouble of asking, yes they're ni-pp-le tapes. First time wearing and they were pretty secure. Oh yes, I got them from Triumph. Well, you gotta trust that one.

Glad to have had an off day on Monday today. Slept till 11am and slept again at 5. Life is good. Which explains why I'm awake now. I hope I won't suffer the consequences tomorrow bros.

Tomorrow's work. And I feel like I've lost track of the motion after CNY. It's like I flew off track.
Need to get back to the mental state of mind again.

But I'm happy next weekend there's more house visiting. I feel happy. Won't be getting anymore angpaos, it's just my relatives opening their house for visiting. woopie!

Btw, I'm happy I don't like pineapple tarts or all those bakes. Doesn't make me feel gelat. I only like peanuts and M&Ms and more nuts. They're awesome new year goodies.

Dunno if you're Cantonese, I'm not, I'm Teochew but my mom's cantonese. So every year, I get to eat those mushroom things with hairy looking stuff and it's just.... awesome. My fav dish of all time. Never liked to eat them when I was younger. But now it's like... I can finish that whole pile of fungus in no time. I'm the Mushroom Gal. Shrooms_Gal92. Whoops, that just sounded real illegal....

Anyway, for the past few weeks in Jan, I've rekindled flames with a beloved sport....

ROLLERBLADING!!!!!!!! Actually I had contemplated buying new skates alllll the wayyyy since before I flew off to New Zealand. Which was exactly a year. Didn't want them to rust while I was on exchange. It was when I was blading with my friends before I flew that got me started again. I hadn't touched blading for years and yearssss until I tasted it once again. Macam drugs and rehab. When I came back, I told myself, after my Laos trip, I'll buy them. Indeed, I waited all the way till I came back from Laos to get them. A bit silly too tho, coz that was the brokest time of my life. But I used my hidden savings and got my long awaited new inline skatesssss. ONE YEAR, big claps for my patience man. So happy coz I've always loved to skate. Skating has always been tops on my list. I would say I like rollerblading more than cycling, but I guess those old skates in my cupboards were in there for the longest time. And I remembered how they used to give me blisters all the time coz they were never the right fit when I was young. Now, I've gotten ones that are perfect. Not exactly coz my left foot is smaller than my right so they're slightly loose argh but what to do.

So blading is my new love for now. Blading has come naturally to me, even though it's been a super long hiatus. But since young, I never went for classes for rollerblading so I never learnt the basics properly. I've been watching a couple of Youtube videos for beginners to see what I missed. And I gotta learn how to do this thing where you put one foot in front of the other as you skate round in a circle. I was trying it earlier on but there were absolutely too much sticks and leaves on the floor at the track outside my house, it was hard. Bro said why not do it at the void deck. Smart ass, why didn't I think of that. So Imma do it soon.

For me, rollerblading is way better than running. I absolutely hate running. It makes me wanna have a heart attack any time and although I feel like a winner every time I complete my run, I don't ever enjoy the journey getting there. Whereas, on my skates, I feel the wind in my hair and the strides that I take make me feel like the world is watching me and I don't give a hoot coz they SEE ME ROLLIN' THEY HATINNNN'. Hahhahaha, I'm the envy of everyone until a cyclist comes along and trumps the blader, which is me. But blading is just absolutely fun. I really love it. And you should too.

Maybe watching this daredevil do his stunts would make you wanna do it too. It'll either scare you or give you a thrill. It gave me both, though I'd never dare do what he's doing.

Sickkk eh.
Made me gasp a number of times, especially when he was right beside them cars.
All these extreme sports, angmohs lah really. Give it to them.

The video's pretty nicely shot too. Luvvit.

Ok, gotta go sleep now, bed's calling. Will share more vids and try to blog more. For now, it's work work work. If I ever get sad, you'll see me here too. Just revel in my depression you sick people! Ciaoz.
