Had to meet up with her because....

THIS HAPPENED

These 3 goondu samys came over to my place at 12 midnight on the 20th of October to surprise me for my birthday at the tail end of 19th October!!!!

They took a picture together as they stood outside my house! Look at those delicious looking oreo cupcakes... all made by Sin Jia Qi the freak with those freak eyeballs.

But, guess what? I haven't even gotten the chance to taste them BECAUSE I WASN'T AT HOME THAT NIGHT!!!!! I was over at my aunt's house coz I had a test to study the next day and I had been up in school the whole night a night ago. So it was Mission Incomplete for them.

What a pity!!!! These crazy fellas truly stuck to tradition of never failing to surprise me at my pasir ris home. I had to be a party pooper lol and my bro was the one who received them hahahaha. He's like the loser who's always the one who entertains my friends when I'm not around. Last year I remember he was the one who first heard Jia Qi at my doorstep and I was like, nah there's nobody at the doorstep but he was like, no.. there really is!

And this year, it's a complete family now that Vivien's back from Brisbane and Yijie's back from jetsetting the world. Haha. My bro was like, "I knew they'd come this year again lor". Very touched, can't wait to taste those cupcakes. Doesn't matter whether they're too old. I'd rather get a stomach upset than never tasting them.

So yes, of course, I felt incredibly guilty so I have to meet them!!! Vivien first since she was able to meet me the earliest. Yijie this Saturday? Jiaqi, when ah you want to meet me. Or do you hate me coz I wasn't around and haven't tasted those cupcakes hahaha.

Meanwhile over at school:

WHAT A FREAKIN GORGEOUS CAKE!!!!! :'DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Ms Sarah Thiam baked it. POPCORN CAKE WAHLAU EH. How did she know I love popcorn???! (ok lah, it was by coincidence but wow how awesome!? and I was just dreaming about having Garrett's the other day?)

Also, she baked it amidst so many other things that she had to do. We all had a test that day and she had a Film Festival to run too.. I honestly dunno how she found the time to bake it for me. I really don't. She's superwoman in my eyes and a keeper indeed.

Purposely didn't post these pics on Instagram coz they're saved for this personal space ma friendssss.

Anyway, the entire cake was gobbled up within seconds. I wish I had a second slice, but no man, it was too good that everyone else wanted one and so the best I could do was lick all the caramel sauce off the plate. Yumz : )

Also the rest... argh. Why so thoughtful?? WHY??? The cards, the laptop case that Sianpei and Yunxuan gave... Unbelievable you guys, unbelievable.

And you wouldn't believe it, but this year's the first time I ever celebrated in Wkw?? I'm so touched :'))) My final year... VALIDATION!!!! Lawl.

But I was entirely surprised lah. Coz this was the day of the Media Law test and it was past my birthday already. Can't believe they did this, truly, I didn't expect it at all.

These 2 surprises this year made me feel so lovedddd and cherished. I mean.. I honestly thought I was a shit-hole of a friend this year because I wasn't doing much or anything for my friends for birthdays this year. It has been a guilty year for me and I think being busy is really not a good excuse coz I mean.. everyone's busy. I guess, time management? And I slapped myself awake and just... LOOK AT ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE who were willing to do so much beautiful stuff just for me. Sigh, what an awesome friend I am.

On the 19th of October this year, I rated my 22nd birthday as the worst one ever because I was tired, and I was doing absolutely nothing-- I was studying for a damn test. Now I understand how it feels like when you've to study on your birthday. All that happened was me confined in my room in my aunt's house sigh. (my aunt gave me a prezzie though so thoughtful!! Must've known I was so lonely~~~)

But the next day, everything turned around. With these 2 amazing groups of friends. What would I do without friends.

Friends are Forever.

I will pledge to be a better friend.

As for family.. I have amazingly become so much closer to my mom, dad and bro. Guess what? My dad and bro had dengue fever last week. So drama, dad had to be hospitalised, brother high fever and had to skip exams. I visited my dad at Mount E, and it's quite scary to see your father in hospital garb. Luckily, nothing serious, just monitoring his condition. All's well and the men of the house are back at home. My mom had to nurse them on her birthday, which is the same as mine. So Happy Birthday to her with 2 sick boys to take care hahahaha so suay. My mom actually took leave with my dad coz they wanted to go Botanic Gardens and have some paktor thang goin on, but I guess too bad. I was told to stay away from Pasir Ris but the day I was told my dad was hospitalised I just went straight back home without a care about no dengue mozzie.

WHO RUN THE WORLD?

Girls. WHO RUN THE W- hahaha. Seriously, women of the Tan household are the strongest.

Anyway,

Today I finally have time to blog. Because finally... yes, you know what I'm about to say. Go-Far is somewhat officially over. We've submitted our final documentaries, along with our proposals. We've done up everything and I feel like... I'm liberated.

Which was why this blog went dead the past 2 weeks coz we were scrambling to finish up the projects. So so glad it's done. And honestly.. I'm proud of what the team has done. I seriously hope everyone enjoys watching it though. We've put in.. so so much effort for it, I would give my team an A for effort. Yes, I just gave US an A. Yay.

Will put up the links to them shortly, but not so soon yet coz it was really just so recent that we completed them that I would feel naked if I put them up here now. But if you're smart and wanna find them then the world wide web is there in its entirety to search and google and rape.

Ok, shan't use the word rape, coz rape is pretty vulgar to me.

But with new-found freedom, comes renewed responsibility. My student life still revolves around one thing. And that is FYP! Zhuoda and I practically have had no rest after that. Coz just today, we went filming for another project to get funds for our FYP. Also, just yesterday we met up with our profile. Non-stop work I tell ya.

But I believe that this work will be worth it by the end of it. It will be. Yes!

As for now, sleep awaits and I shall konk out in a moment of seconds. Ciao!!! More stuff up soon promise.

So this was taken yesterday afternoon at 12 when I was walking back home after school. I hadn't slept for 26 hours then. Today, I came back at 11am. 25 hours without sleep. Editing non-stop with my team in between other stuff like FYP meetings and classes.

Sigh, so much to learn from doing the video. Story telling techniques need to be improved.

We knew the one we sent for vetting was super rough, it was the first skeleton we put together for the video but time was up, so we had to submit it. Of course it was bad. I was worrying about it the night before and couldn't sleep till 4am even though that was the day I went without sleep.

Waited till 1am today before we were given comments about the rough cut this morning. Reshma and I then made mad cuts to our edit. All the way till 9am in the morning. And so we thought we left the editing suite today feeling a lot more upbeat and optimistic of our piece. I was in fact, feeling extremely hopeful coz I could see the docu taking shape, and taking flight! But more comments came our way. Our instructor sent us additional comments about our earlier edit sigh sigh sigh. Can be quite depressing. But I have to tell myself that they were looking at the earlier cut, so they haven't seen the new one yet. Don't be despaired!

Deadline is next Friday but we gotta hand up the final cut on Monday to a graphics artist to add graphics for us. Which is why we're rushing like mad kids. Absolutely.

I keep telling myself, stick it out, stick it out, it's going to be done soon and it'll be something we can be proud of! I will make sure it is something we will be proud of.

I'm quite proud of it right now actually after our edit and I know there's a whole lot more to fine tune and edit but I can really see the documentary going somewhere at least. At the same time, it is quite dampening to receive a whole lot of disparaging feedback at one go. I didn't want to hear about what was good, just wanted to know what to improve on so we could work on it. But I didn't expect to feel a little down when so much came in one wave!

Also, guess what? On Monday, which is the day after tomorrow, I've Media Law mid-terms: 30%. And I haven't touched any notes at all since I came back from Stockholm. Haven't watched the recorded lecture for the class we missed because we were in Sweden. I seriously poured my heart and soul into Go-Far, so much so that I was willing to neglect revision for my exam.

Even my FYP. Thanks for groupmates who helped cut the slack while two of us were away. But I had to apologise to them for being absent-minded during group meetings. My whole heart is not focused on FYP now, it's somewhere else. But I promise, I will return with a much invigorated and enlightened spirit after that, very soon.

I dunno why, but I feel a sense of wanting to do my bloody best for Go-Far. Whether or not it ends up a big whallop, I'm just going to do it. And I want to finish strong! I want to complete the race, not for the sake of it, but because I want to know that I will be proud of myself and the team for having finished it together, stronger and better. That end goal is always in mind, and I will never let it go out of sight.

In the meantime, here's the music performance we did while we were in Stockholm!!!! : )
Enjoy! They're freakin' awesome and super nice in person too I sur-wear!

I'm honestly really tired right now. Coming back to Singapore meant work. Above gofar I have FYP and media law. Sigh, it's been non-stop work the moment I landed. Yesterday was my parent's 25th wedding anniversary celebration. So it really was no-rest at all. And today I can feel the lethargy setting in.

We're baaaaaackkkk.

I am having serious jet lag here. Flew home to Singapore and landed at 4:15pm.
Couldn't tahan and fell on my beautiful bed at around 10 plus and here I am at almost 5am wide awake.

It was an 11 hour flight back from Stockholm.

What do I have to say about the trip?

Rollercoaster. But fun.

I have so much stuff to tell you guys about like all the people we've met and spoken to.. wow.
And Stockholm - a lot of team mates thought the place was uninspiring. 1st world nation. Clean and safe streets. Unlike the rest, I actually liked it. Coz it reminded me of Singapore and I can seriously see myself living there. The only thing I cannot stand is the cold. - Got a bit of a flu the first few days and almost lost my voice on the 3rd/4th day. But recovered pretty quickly thank god. Nose had clogged up blood and stuff but all was worth it.

Remember how I told you I was in a dilemma on whom to interview? We got to interview both bands in the end!!! Brothers Among Wera were the nicest people EVER. I swear, and Wera the singer's so beautiful and we concluded they all smell nice. We met Tiger Bell too, I didn't think they were as friendly but still, who gets to tell others that they got to meet a Swedish punk-rock band in person?

Some of the music videos are out coz we did them while on the trip. Will post the links soon : )

But in the meantime, check out our Multimedia website!!!
Supervisors said it's the most number of posts contributed by any Go-Far Team EVA.

And I think it's pretty damn fantastic: Go-Far 2014 Website

Got to speak to so many random strangers, chatting up with them usually is tough initially but gradually they will warm up to you.

I have met unfriendly Swedes but I have also met the most friendly people on earth ever. After talking to a lady at a records store, my entire life in Stockholm brightened up.

I find it amazing how human-to-human interaction can have such a positive effect. You just don't know when your smile or what you say to someone can radiate such positive vibes and happiness. Ahhh.. if only everyday were like this.

I hope the next time I blog will be soon, but seriously in the meantime go look at our website. So proud of da team.

Autumn is here!
